Holly Boyer
Director of Childcare

The Director of Childcare reviews the application, and schedules a family interview to determine if the Home will be a viable solution for the family's immediate need.  Texas Pythian Home policy requires the children to be placed for a minimum of six months to give the family enough time to establish a plan of action for the future.  Once the children are placed there is a six-week probationary period during which the children do not have contact with the family.  This allows the children to adjust to the rules, regulations, and routines and get to know the Home's staff.

Separate boy's and girl's dorms are roomy, comfortable, and provide a home-like atmosphere.  The children live with a married couple, called Direct Care Staff, whose parental role is to provide consistency, nurturing, discipline, and counsel.  During the first 40 days, the staff and the Director of Childcare develop a plan of service individualized for each child.  The plan consists of short and long-term goals in five areas: family, social, educational, emotional, and physical.  The Director of Childcare reviews the plan and goals with the child's family every six months.
