Financial Support
The Texas Pythian Home, Inc. is a 501c3 not-for-profit organization. The Home does not receive state or federal funds. The Knights of Pythias and the Pythian Sisters have always helped support the Home financially. An endowment was established by the Knights of Pythias to help fund the cost of operations. The Home pays the operating expenses each month from the interest earned by the endowment. When our expenses exceed the interest earned on the endowment we must rely on private donations to make ends meet.
People often feel they cannot provide financial assistance because they don't have a large sum to give. We aren't asking for everyone to donate thousands or even hundreds of dollars. Each month a group of individuals give to the Home an established amount comfortable for them, such as ten to twenty dollars. These people are a part of the group we call Kash 4 Kids! It is this type of donation that we count on each month that takes care of the everyday expenses such as food, utilities, gas, etc. Costs just seem to keep going up, but donations don't. Please consider what it would take for you to give at least ten dollars every month to make such a BIG difference in a child's life.
Memorials made to the Home are placed in the endowment, as well as estates, wills and bequests. The Home operates only on the interest generated by the endowment. The amount beyond the interest then must come from private donations.
Donations
We accept all donations, except animals. All contributions are greatly appreciated. Donations keep the Pythian Home running. They also help us maintain our tax exempt status. Remember us when you have good usable furniture, household items, clothing, toys, etc. Our children don't usuall come with many belongings when placed in our care. Personal grooming items such as laundry soap and cleaning supplies for the dorms are a never ending need.
Our wish is for an Activity Center with a gymnasium and meeting rooms that could be used by the community and the Home. Donations toward this project are always welcome.
Public Events
There are rooms that have been made available for the public to rent also. The auditorium is used for weddings, birthday parties, dances, football parties, proms and annual banquets among other programs.
