Mission Statement
The Texas Pythian Home, Inc. provides a safe, stable environment for children to grow physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually to become responsible, independent adults.
Who are we?
The Pythian Home is 501c3 non profit facility licensed by the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services for sixty-two children. This license requires that the Residential Childcare Licensing Rules be maintained at all times. A licensing representative makes official visits to the Home to insure all standards are met.
We have specific criteria that must be met for placement of a child. We accept children ages three to fourteen whose families are not able to provide for their ongoing care and basic needs. The managing conservator is the only person able to place or withdraw children. The children can come from anywhere in the state of Texas. All of the children placed in our care have families that remain an active part of their lives during the time the children live at the Home. Without the extra burden of trying to provide for their children, the family is free to work toward having the children return home by going to school, obtaining employment, securing housing, etc.
The children may remain in residence as long as needed by the family. Once enrolled, the children may live at Texas Pythian Home through college age as long as they remain in school. This includes college, vocational, or trade school.
Where are we?
The Home is located on approximately 164 acres on the east side of Weatherford. The campus includes a softball field, tennis and volleyball courts, a swimming pool, and various barns in addition to the main building and dormitories. The children live in the dormitories with a husband and wife team who serve as the Direct Care Staff. There are 6 to 8 children in each dorm, depending on age. The children attend public schools and local churches. They also participate in extra curricular activities such as soccer, football, basketball, band, scouts, etc. Our goal is to give the children a childhood with opportunities and positive experiences.
